Argan oil, Moroccan’s beauty secret

Argan oil, also known as “liquid gold ” or “Moroccan miracle oil”, is one of my favourite night face oils. I have been using this fantastic skin-loving oil since 2016. It makes my skin utterly soft, smooth, glowing and feels luxurious on the skin.

I would say it was fortunate to get 100% pure, cold-pressed Argan oil straight from Agadir, Morocco, through a Moroccan lady I met online. It is indeed challenging to get authentic Argan oil that is pure and of premium quality.

The difference between cosmetic and culinary Argan oil

I know most of you know Argan oil for being one of the world’s rarest oils, but you might not know it is popular in two different worlds. Cosmetic (unroasted) Argan oil has a golden yellow hue and used for skin, hair and nails. In contrast, Argan oil for cooking has gone through a roasting or heating process. It is brownish and considered an essential ingredient in Moroccan cuisine to give your cooking an unparalleled taste.

Argan oil is an age-old beauty secret with many advantages for the skin.

Rich in vitamin E, fatty acids, and antioxidants is suitable for all skin types and best used at nighttime.

The oil is absorbed quickly by the skin, making it the best choice for oily and acne-prone skin. You can use it alone or add a few drops of essential oils such as Rosemary or tea tree essential oil for their therapeutic properties.

You can also mix Argan oil with Rhassoul, also known as Ghassoul, or other clays and rose water to have a facial mask to clean, soften and brighten the skin. It also removes impurities by absorbs dirt, dead cells and excess sebum.

This famous beauty elixir is a common addition to your hair regimens that is brimming with benefits. It nourishes the hair and makes it shiny. You can also mix it with Rosemary or Cedarwood essential oil for hair growth.

How Argan oil improves your skin’s condition

Adds moisture

Argan oil nourishes and provides a significant boost of hydration to the skin.

Reduces wrinkles

As we get older, we lose both collagen and elasticity. Argan oil helps improve the elasticity of the skin and remove the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Fades dark spots

If you suffer from hyperpigmentation, Argan oil may help improve and brighten your skin tone.

Now the question is, how can you tell if you’ve landed a quality one?

  • Colour: Authentic Argan oil should be a golden yellow hue. If it is too pale, it’s likely either mixed with other oils or refined
  • Scent: Pure Argan oil will always have a nutty aroma
  • Potency: To reap the full benefits, use Argan oil in its purest form (100% Argan oil)
  • Price: Cosmetic (unroasted) Argan oil is more expensive compared to the cooking one
